Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke via telephone on Tuesday with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison. According to a press release, the two leaders talked briefly  together about current events in the Mediterranean and the continued cooperation between the two nations on the part of many different organizations.

The Greek Prime Minister updated the Australian PM regarding the present tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean as a result of Turkey’s incursions onto Greece’s continental shelf between the Greek island of Crete and Cyprus.

Prime Minister Morrison later Tweeted that he was “delighted” to be able to exchange information with PM Mitsotakis on the continuing problems related to the coronavirus and the economic recovery after the pandemic. The Greek leader was especially interested in hearing about how Covid-19 had affected Melbourne’s large Greek community.
