Australia’s tight-knit Greek community was saddened to hear of the death of father of three Eric Charalambous, who died recently at only 53 years of age after a short illness.

Tragically, the father’s death leaves his three children orphans since his wife Vicky lost her battle with cancer just eight months ago in October of 2019. She had fought against the disease for seven years and was only 48 years of age when she passed away.

Their three children, 17-year-old Angelique, 13-year-old Connor and 11-year-old Riahna, who survive their parents, are being taken care of by an aunt, Susie Angelakos, Vickie’s sister.

Vicky Charalambous’ parents, relatives and friends have all pitched in to help with the many day-to-day things needed for the three orphans, offering every kind of support at this extremely difficult time. The children’s aunt, Susie Angelakos, now must work full-time to be able to take care of the family.

The new full-time worker and parent of three has started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with the day-to-day and future expenses of the three orphaned Charalambous children.

Susie Angelakos wrote on the family’s GoFundMe page: “Challenging times ahead whilst having great support from family and friends. Any donation big or small will go a long way to help these beautiful amazing strong kids whom have been through more than most go through their whole life. Take care of your family and friends as you dont know what may happen with a blink of an eye. Love to you all. Stay safe.”

Angelakos recently stated that the response so far from members of the community, both people who are acquainted with the family as well as complete strangers, has been very generous.

“We are so overwhelmed with all the generosity and support during these sad times for our family. This means the world to the children and want to thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of their hearts,” she stated on the charity’s page.

All those interested in helping the three orphaned Charalambous children may donate on their GoFundMe page, here.
