Greek-Australian Student Becomes Major Social Media Influencer

A Greek-Australian student has amassed a tidy sum by becoming a social media influencer, making $73,461 Australian (45,276 euros) every year that she has been in high school.

Tia Christofi, an 18-year-old from Melbourne, currently has more than 3,000 YouTube subscribers and more than 100,000 followers on Instragram.

The teenage social media sensation has signed with companies which pay her up to $450  (277 euros) for each social media post she makes, earning her the tidy sum of around $73,000 each and every year.

Christofi handles being both a full-time high school student and a social media influencer by working during her break time between classes during the day.

“I try to complete as much work as I can so that I have less schoolwork to do at home and more time to train, reply back to emails, post on my social media, engage with my followers and spend time with my family,” Christofi said.

During the weekends, the teen spends her time with friends and eating Greek food with her Greek-Cypriot family. “Sometimes I get a late-night souvlaki in the city,” she adds.

Surprisingly, Christofi’s time at school has not been easy since her blossoming on social media, since classmates have been known to bully her by mimicking her photos and videos; but she tries not to let the harassment upset her.

“This taught me from a young age to not let people’s negative mindset affect my outlook or rule my emotions. It was more a reflection of their own insecurities than anything else,” she declares.

The teen started posting photos on Instagram at age fourteen to keep her friends updated during her vacations in Europe.

When she began posting pictures and videos of herself working out and showing off her cheerleading outfits, the strikingly beautiful teen started gaining a serious social media following.

So far in her four-year career as a social media influencer, Christofi has been signed by a range of sports apparel brands to promote their products.

“I was emailed by a sports apparel company and was contracted with them at the age of sixteen. I was their youngest-ever athlete,” she states with pride.

But unlike other influencers her age, and even older, the social media sensation is selective about who she represents, working only with companies which have the same outlook as she does.

Christofi says she is firm about her intent to promote only the products she actually likes and believes in.

The young woman’s advice to other teenagers who are aspiring to be social media influencers like her is to “Post what you’re passionate about, and don’t care what anyone thinks of you.”

“Be true to yourself,” she says with feeling.
