”Everyone Invited” to New Archbishop’s Enthronement on June 29

The enthronement ceremony for Makarios, the new Archbishop of Australia, will take place on Saturday, June 29.

The Greek Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of Australia issued a statement on the event saying ”All the faithful of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia are invited to the Enthronement of our new Primate and Father, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, on Saturday June 29 at 11.00 am at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos.”

The enthronement of the young Archbishop, who is only 45 years of age, promises to be a joyous event which will see throngs of faithful welcoming Makarios on the streets outside the Cathedral. Australia’s beloved previous Archbishop, Silvanos, passed away recently at the age of 83 after more than four decades of service to the nation’s faithful.

Makarios will be the sixth Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. The Archdiocese concluded its announcement by reiterating that everyone is encouraged ”to be present at this historical and sacred event.”

The address of the Cathedral is 242 Cleveland Street, Redfern, Sydney.
