Tsitsipas’ Fairy Tale Australian Open Ends in Defeat

Greek tennis sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas lost to Rafael Nadal in the semifinal of the Australian Open on Thursday, Jan. 24.

Tsitsipas was unable to break the Spaniard’s serve and lost 3-0, scoring 2-6, 4-6, 0-6.

Despite the loss to the number 2 tennis player in the world, the 20-year-old tennis phenomenon was the first Greek person ever to advance to a Grand Slam semifinal. He is without doubt the best tennis player Greece has ever produced.

Tsitsipas beat his boyhood hero Roger Federer on his way to the semis of the Open.

The Greek fans, as always, came out in force for Tsitsipas and voiced their support for the young Greek player during his clash with Nadal.
