The Pan Macedonian Association of Melbourne and Victoria (PMAMV) will send a co-signed letter of complaint to President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos saying he is not welcome in Australia.
According to a Proto Thema website report, Greek communities in Australia condemn the Greek president’s endorsement of the name “Republic of North Macedonia” that Athens has agreed with Skopje.
“Mr Pavlopoulos you are unwanted; if you visit Melbourne, we the Greek diaspora officials will not welcome you,” the letter will say, according to Proto Thema website.
The Greek president is reportedly to visit Australia in October.
The letter of complaint was decided during an emergency meeting at the PMAMV headquarters on Thursday, attended by 120 people. The Greek Australians expressed their anger at the Greek government for signing the agreement with FYROM.
