The Hellenic Community Joins Anzacs in March and Dawn Service at Shrine of Remembrance

The communities of Australia joined together to march with the Anzacs in a remembrance march of the 6,500 Australia soldiers who fought in Greece and Crete for the Allied defense services during WWII.

The Melbourne Anzac Day march took place for the second year in Melbourne and the Hellenic community dressed in traditional costume and marched with veterans for the Greek and Crete campaigns of 1941.

The streets were packed with onlookers as veterans, family members and friends participated in the Melbourne Anzac Day march and the dawn service which took place at the Shrine of Remembrance. Being soaked by the rain didn’t stop people from gathering in remembrance of this significant day and events in history.
