‘Transterritorial Hellenism: A Journey Through Some Sites’ Offered at the Greek Centre


This January the Greek centre will be offering the 6 week course: ‘Transterritorial Hellenism: A Journey Through Some Sites’ where students will examine the concept of Hellenism and the realities of Greece today.

The course is being offered as a cross-institution subject enrollment at La Trobe University.

The students of this cultural course will examine many factors of Greek life such as scholars, the life of Greeks as Ottoman subjects, victims of genocide, political exiles, guest workers, Europeans, and citizens of multi-cultural states, as well as the impact of the Greek Orthodox Church, Greek irredentism, political conflict and modernization of Greek identity.

Information about the course:
Duration: 6 weeks x 6 hours a week: Tuesdays and Thursdays Time: 5.00pm – 8.00pm
Dates: Begins Tuesday, January 3 and ends Tuesday, February 7
Venue: Greek Cultural Centre, 168 Lonsdale St, Melbourne, VIC
