Greek-Australian Arrested for Stabbing Neighbor in Preston

police-australiaTony Papadimitriou, a 35-year-old Greek-Australian from Preston, Victoria, was arrested for the murder of his 68-year-old neighbor Donato Galgano.

Papadimitriou appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning, July 11, and did not apply for bail. He was ordered to appear in court on July 14.

According to police, the perpetrator and the victim had some conflict in the past.

Galgano was attacked with a knife at his home on the corner of Murray Street and Gilbert in Preston around 5:00 pm in the evening. Passersby and paramedics tried to provide first aid, but the man passed away.

Papadimitriou was arrested at the scene and later charged with one count of murder.
