Gerontopoulos Meets with Greek-Australian Entrepreneurs

Greek-Australian entrepreneurs are interested in investing in Greece, as was discussed in a meeting with the Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kyriakos Gerontopoulos.

Minister Gerontopoulos completed his four-day visit in Australia by meeting in Sydney with the Greek-Australian Minister of Arts George Souris, MP Sophie Cotsis and with Greek-Australian local government officers. He also held meetings with major Greek-Australian entrepreneurs.

Moreover, on March 26, Gerontopoulos spoke at an event organized by the Hellenic Initiative, an initiative of leading Diaspora entrepreneurs launched in July 2012 and aiming to promote investments in Greece. “I’m always very happy when I meet our brothers living abroad. Today, I’m even happier as I’m speaking to both Greeks of Australia and of the U.S.” the Minister said.

Gerontopoulos also stressed that Greece is leaving the financial crisis behind: “For the first time since the crisis outbreak Greece has achieved a significant primary surplus and positive economic growth is expected in 2014. Now is the best time to invest in Greece as the country is emerging from a long recession, shows political stability and has many business opportunities. Greeks of Australia and the U.S. are known for their patriotism and I firmly believe that all of you will help and support the recovery efforts of our country.”

The Minister also visited the Saint Spyridon College, where he was guided and briefed by the professors and spoke with students learning Greek there. He also participated in a joint event for the raising of the Greek flag in the municipalities of Kogarah and Hurstville.
