The Greek MP of Australia’s Labor Party, Tom Koutsantonis is expected to be re-elected in the state elections that will be held on March 15. Koutantonis is representing the seat of West Torrens in the South Australian House of Assembly. He is the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy, Minister for Housing and Urban Development in the current Weatherill cabinet.

Other Greek candidates expected to play a crucial role in this year’s elections, are the independent Senator Nick Xenophon and Anthony Antoniadis, the Liberal candidate for the electorate of Ramsay.

Jay Wheatherill, the current Premier of South Australia and head of the Labor Party of South Australia, announced the election date last weekend. Weatherill stated that the main pillar of the Labor Party’s campaign will be the creation of new job positions. If Weatherill’s party gets re-elected, it will be its fourth term in office.

Following the announcement of the elections date, Steven Marshall, Weatherill’s opponent and head of the Liberal Party, stated that his main goal is to “tidy up” the State’s finances and create new jobs in order to help Australian citizens face the increasing cost of living.
