Top Greek Businesses are Being Sold

Black Swan CompanyOne of the most renowned Greek-Australian companies is for sale. The Black Swan, formerly Poseidon Tarama in the mid-70s, is a top dip company in Australia.

The company was founded by Christos Saristavros, who began selling Tarama (fish roe dip) at the South Melbourne Market around 35 years ago, using his family’s own recipe. Sales took off and Christos along with his brother Con Saristavros, set up the company. During a charity event in 2000, Christos was murdered, a case which to this day remains unsolved. After his death his brother Con became CEO of Black Swan.

Black Swan’s sale was confirmed by Con Saristavros. The value of the company, which is being sold for family reasons, is estimated at tens of millions of dollars and a number of major food companies have expressed an interest in acquiring it.

Another company, Ktena Knitting Mills, founded by Anastasios Tseprailidis was recently sold. This large and thriving business was purchased by the Kalitsas Group of Ioannis Kalitsas.
