Greece is exporting a few of its traditional musical instruments to countries all over the world. Australia is a country with many Greeks; therefore there is a considerable demand for Greek traditional instruments. The bouzouki is one of the few musical instruments exported from Greece to Australia.

The well-known Greek music composer Pantelis Volaris, from the Greek island of Lemnos, founded a company which imports musical instruments from Greece. For the past 45 years, the “Mythos” company imports the musical instruments bouzouki, baglamas and tzouras from Greece making them available in the Australian market.

Pantelis Volaris states that the Australian market may be a small one, but there is always potential for development.

He also added, that his company imports bouzoukia, which were custom-made in Greece by the best traditional luthiers and craftsmen, so as to ensure impeccable quality. Musical instruments, along with musical accessories are offered at reasonable prices and suitable for any budget, he concludes.

Moreover, shortly before Christmas, one of the biggest Australian electronics chain store, JB HiFi, joined the market by importing a large quantity of bouzoukia from Greece.
