Antipodes Festival Features Tsiolkas’ Life

tsiolkasOn June 24 the English version of the last book of the academic and writer John Vasilakakos, entitled Christos Tsiolkas: The Silenced Story – Life and Work is going to be released in Australia and the USA (soon in Britain and Greece), by the Australian publisher Connor Court Publishing.

This is the first biography-study, the first comprehensive examination of the life and work of one of the most popular and talked-about Greek novelists.

From his early years as a writer, by today’s global recognition, the irresistible unknown history of Tsiolkas comes to light. The contentious Greek-Australian writer, speaks frankly and in depth about everything: a turbulent life (childhood, adolescence and adulthood) as well as for beloved and important for him issues (literature and criticism, identity , the state is humanity – the decadence, materialism, spirituality, ethics, racism, animal liberation, intellectuals and the media – religion and death).

The event will take place at the Celtic Club, 316 Queen Street in Melbourne. the main speaker will be the renowned writer Jeana Vithoulkas, while greetings will be given by the Chairman of the Greek Community of Melbourne & Victoria, Vasilis Papastergiadis and Tsiolkas will also speak. The event is part of cultural Antipodes Festival organized annually by the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria.
