Greek Students Win Premier`s VCA Awards

paidiaSeveral children of Greek descent, mostly girls, were included in the catalogue with the top pupils in Victoria that were awarded by the Governor, the Premier of Victoria and the Minister for Education, for their performances in the entrance exams in 2012 and recipients of the Premier’s VCA Awards that were given on June 5.

Among the pupils were Ioanna Giannourakou Lianidou, daughter of the Consul General of Greece, Eleni Lianidou, who received the award. Her daughter attends the bilingual Alphington Grammar School in Melbourne, established by the Greek Community of Melbourne and Victoria in 1989.

Ioanna Giannourakou Lianidou excelled in the lesson of Greek Language, as did Angelica Gouliovas, a student in Omiros College (Greek Language and Cultural School) and Artemis Sfendourakis of St. Catherine’s School.

Other pupils of Greek descent who excelled and were honored by the Victorian Government were Zafina Dendrinou in German, Jessica Sofarnou in dance, Sofia Viega in cooking, Eirini Galanou in human development, Benita Kolovou in literature, Stefanie Papadopoulou in literature, James Samartzis in tradition.
