Melidonis Will Be Sorely Missed

melbourneThe death of Dinos Melidonis brought sorrow to the Greek Diaspora. Melidonis made history in the theater and the radio of the Greek community. He passed away on April 12, at the age of 81.

Melidonis, from Alexandria, Egypt, had been an active member of the Greeks of Egypt & Middle East Society (GEMES) and excelled as a director and an actor of its theater troupe.

He was also distinguished as the leading coordinator and speaker of the Greek-language program of the State Radio SBS (then 3EA) and formerly as the speaker of the radio station 3KZ.

For many years he was the director of a big Australian bank and he served thousands of people of Greek descent. His funeral was held on April 17, at the temple of Sts. Anargyroi at Oakleigh, Melbourne.
