Orfanidis Co-Founder of New Political Party

greg01A new political party, the Australian Sovereignty Party (ASP), was founded in Australia two and a half years ago, by 25-year-old Greg Orfanidis of Greek descent. His background consists of marketing, management, self-employment, and research. His areas of interest are politics, history, law, philosophy, and sciences.

Some of ASP’s basic policies are to cut the carbon tax, keep a small number of immigrants to Australia, and set a more transparent system of taxation. Among the major policies is reducing the amount of taxes Australians have to pay. “ASP Tax Policy will replace all 125 taxes (except for Customs and Excise Duties) with a single Debit Tax. This tax will tax your expenditure – not your income”, ASP’s official website says.

Despite being a child of immigrants, Orfanidis believes that Australia should not keep on receiving many immigrants. He says the control of immigrant numbers should be enforced to ensure the Australian way of life and values. ASP expects immigrants to respect Australian culture and to learn the language.

“Of course we welcome immigrants for prosperity, they contribute greatly to society as the Greeks have”, he explains. “So what we’re saying is we’re not restricting it in a sense that it’s going to be a low number or arbitrary, it’s purely about just being sensible economically. Immigration should purely be about the numbers – nothing more.”
