Greek Ambassador to Australia Charalambos Dafaranos, outlined in his interview to The DealĀ Magazine of the Australian Daily that Australian businessmen and investors should look beyond the current economic upheaval plaguing Greece and rather focus on the new possibilities emerging in the fields of investments and commerce.
Dafaranos sounded optimistic about the future of the country’s economy and invited Australians to share their know-how and technologies with the Greeks in order to help the country modernize its structures and become more competitive.
Dafaranos also noted that the structural reforms imposed on the Greek people were radical and very demanding, but expressed his firm belief that a crisis gives birth to new possibilities and opportunities. According to the Greek Ambassador, the fields of real estate, energy, transportation, commercial transactions and gastronomy are of particular interest to Australian investors.
The diplomat added that the country is trying hard as it might reverse the negative image cultivated by international media over the past few years and implement radical changes and structural reforms both in its economy and mentality, so that its economy becomes competitive in international markets once again.
The Greek Ambassador of Canberra met recently with representatives from the Board of Directors of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria to discuss about issues of the community and the Greek Diaspora in Australia.
