Australia’s Cretans Want Ministry for Greeks Abroad

cretansThe Pan-Cretan Council in Australia is demanding creation of a Ministry for Greeks Abroad, according to their magazine, Cretans. Council Chairman Antonis Tsourdalakis, said that the magazine aims at linking all the Cretans around the world.

“Stimulated by the love for our homeland and the ways for contributing in facing this financial crisis, we propose the creation of a Ministry for Greeks Abroad,” the magazine added..

“The millions of Greeks living abroad are struggling with the problems of their compatriots in Greece. Through our experience by the self-organization and volunteering work, we call all Greeks of every corner in the world to meet and suggest some ways in order Greeks living abroad to be connected with their compatriots and offer them their aid,” the council said.

Cretans living in Australia and New Zealand will travel in Perth, Western Australia, the city that is going to host the conference of the Cretan Federation of Australia and New Zealand, from Jan. 3-8, 2013. The conference coincides with the conference of the New National Cretan Youth Council.
