The Kringoudis-Lew Diet: Eat Fat, Be Thin

Natalie Kringoudis, an advocate of Chinese herbs and acupuncture, and wellness center owner, health writer, TV presenter and author Andi Lew write in their diet book Eat Fat, Be Thin that women, particularly those are pregnant, who insist on eating light foods and punish themselves with torturous diets, are limiting their fertility and putting their health in danger.

When women weigh less than normal they are also less likely to conceive, they say. This category consists of women who follow deprivation diets, suffer from eating disorders or have lost weight due to an illness, according to the authors.

Light food leads to a fertility reduction for both men and women, according to scientific studies. Women who want to have a child should eat normal foods with all their ingredients and mostly eggs, lean meat, nuts and many vegetables and fruits.

Kringoudis stressed that, “This is what the doctors suggest. Moreover these foods boost the immune system.” Eating full-fat dairy, fish, nuts and olive oil, that contain omega-3 and omega-6, have health benefits, they said.

Vitamin B12 also seems to be associated with infertility and possibly miscarriage. Both authors emphasize that a good diet cannot itself guarantee a successful conception and the pregnancy outcome and caution that women should consult their gynecologist first.
