Alexander the Great Exhibit Big Draw

The coming exhibit featuring Alexander the Great has drawn big interest with The Australian Museum in Sydney launching a special website, which beyond the ticket promotion, contains a range of information for the event that will kick off on Nov. 24.

The museum’s site is www.alexandersydney.com.au, which emphasized that it is sponsoring one of its biggest exhibits. The site also provides a wealth of material for the “greatest of the Greeks,” as some historians have declared.

There are links with detailed information about the exhibits, an extensive biography and sayings of well-known ancient writers on Alexander and many others. “Alexander was the son of Philip II, King of Macedonia, who is said that descended from the hero Heracles, son of Zeus. Macedonians consider themselves Greek,” it stated.

The Governor of New South Wales, Professor Marie Bashir, and the Vice-President and Head Curator of the Museum, The State Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg, Svetlana Adaksina, which has been a major source of exhibit material on Alexander, are scheduled to attend the opening.
