Economical Easter Present Ideas

During Easter time, when every Greek household needs eggs to paint, a lamp to grill, presents to offer to every godchild (most Greek families have more than one), many people feel worried due to the fact that they need money for all of this. The same thought distresses every Greek-Australian family, too.

To make them feel a little bit more relieved, the Greek Orthodox Parishes, St. John’s Greek Orthodox College, Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College and the Greek Welfare Centre have decided to offer these families an Easter egg made of love and full of surprises.

We could say that the Greek Welfare Centre has established some kind of tradition in the past years. This year, its representatives ask for our financial contribution, not only by Orthodox people, but also by many others willing to offer food, toys or anything else. The Centre asks, as well, for the help of Greek-Australian businesses.

As for the food items – oil, pasta, rice, coffee, sugar and any other similar to these that could easily be preserved for many days – are always welcome, according to the Greek Welfare Centre. Only food items which are about to expire or have been in some way damaged are going to be thrown away in order to protect the families’ health.

If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Edmond Kaderoglou at the Greek Welfare Centre – (03) 9486 6588.
