Celebrating Victoria’s Migration at the Piers Festival!

Port Melbourne Piers precinct will be brought to life with the inaugural Piers Festival on Saturday, January 28, 2012, with a spectacular display of music, dance, food, historical displays, and many more activities.

The Piers Festival is a family friendly event and will culminate with an exiting fireworks display at 9pm.

Originally called Railway Pier, Station Pier was completed in 1854 and welcomed hundreds of thousands of European migrants.

Just along the port, Princes Pier opened in 1916, assuming an important role in Victoria’s immigration, military and maritime history. Recently returned to its former glory, its synthetic lawn will play host to a wealth of exciting live performances.

The Piers Festival is proudly produced by Multicultural Arts Victoria and supported by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship, the Australia Day Committee (Vic), Major Projects Victoria and the Immigration Museum.
