Vasileios Gkogas is the name of the new Consul General of Greece for Education, taking over the office of Mr. Charalambos Ladopoulos in Melbourne for the next three years.
Although he is fully aware of the hard work lying ahead of him, he claims to be very enthusiastic over carrying on the work of his predecessor.
As he told Neos Kosmos, his priority now is to become familiar with Melbourne and to “find somewhere to live”. Mr. Gkogkas expressed his interest in meeting as many people involved with Greek education in Australia as possible. His work is to create initiatives to promote the inclusion of Greek education in Australia.
Mr. Gkogas, like his predecessor, comes from a primary school teaching background. He has complemented his degree in teaching in Australia, which made him “fall in love with the country” and completed it later on in Greece, where he worked for 28 years as a teacher. He has also worked for 5 years in Germany, holds a degree in Fine Art, Painting and Museology and speaks fluently German and English.
