Northern Territory’s Government Gives $200,000 to Oceania’s Pan-Hellenic Games

The local government of the Northern Territory will boost the organisation of the Oceania’s Pan-hellenic Games, with the impressive sum of $ 200,000. The Pan-hellenic Games will be held this year in Darwin with the participation of over 400 athletes from across Australia and New Zealand.

As stated by the Coordinator of the Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) of Oceania, George Angelopoulos, ”the government’s generous offer will contribute to the good organisation of the games, thanking at the same time the Prime Minister of Nothern Territory Paul Henderson for his kind gesture.” Mr Henderson warmly welcomes the hosting of the Panhellenic Games in Darwin that will be held from September 29 to October 2, 2011.

The president of the Greek Community of Darwin and Chairman of the organisational committee of the Panhellenic Games, John Nikolakis, noted that every effort is being made to support this year’s Panhellenic Games to be very successful.  “The state government and the entire community have been activated to help this event be a success. We look forward to welcoming hundreds of male and female athletes of Greek descent from every corner of Australia and New Zealand in our city, “said Nikolakis.
