Exhibition for Greeks of the Bonegilla Migrants Center

The Greek Australian Minister of Multicultural Affairs of Victoria Nikos Kotsiras announced that funds will be given for the creation of a permanent exhibition revolving around the Greeks who stayed at Bonegilla, a Migrant Reception and Training Center where 300.000 immigrants were hosted thousand of Greeks among them from the end of the World War until 1972.

This center was considered as a “place of desperation and starting point of hope”.

“It was a center for the promotion of assimilation but instead, multiculturalism was born there” said Mr. Kotsiras.

The Greek Australian noted that with the funds given by his government will go towards this permanent exhibition created to present the story of the Greeks of Bonegilla.
