Adelaide’s Hellenic festival, Odyssey, officially kicked off this week

Adelaide’s Hellenic festival, Odyssey, officially kicked off this week, celebrating the past 80 years of Greek Australians in Adelaide.
Over 300 people headed to Olympic Hall for the launch, including Premier Mike Rann and Opposition Leader Isobel Redmond.
Event organiser Maria Foundas said the launch was “absolutely phenomenal.”
“The older generation, in particular, were just blown away by what we’d done,” she said.
Olympic Hall will be the hub of the festival, and features a photographic exhibition, A Journey through the Memories, and the finalists in the Odyssey Art Prize, which is themed Community Spirit.
“During the festival it’s going to remain open from 12-6 every day, as what I’m calling, ‘the Odyssey Parthenion,’ so we’re encouraging everyone to come back to Olympic Hall and spend some time here,” she said.
The festival runs until 6 November and includes a wide range of lectures, a tour of a Byzantium church, an opera, the 17th Greek Film Festival.
