Souvlakihut opens first drive-through store

Greek restaurant franchise, Souvlakihut, has opened its first drive-through store in Australia, expanding its presence in the fast food market.
The new store, which officially opened its doors last week, is located at Lynbrook Village Shopping Centre in Lynbrook, Victoria, and serves the high-density traffic flow from Melbourne to Gippsland and East Victoria via the South Gippsland Highway.
Operated by a local husband and wife team, the opening of the 220sqm store has created 25 jobs in the area. It offers takeaway and pick-up options, and can seat up to 50 people should they choose to dine in.
“This is an exciting step in our business growth as we become a key player in a competitive QSR market,” said Bill Fotiadis, co-founder and managing director of Souvlakihut.

“Consumers are time poor and a drive-through offers additional ease and convenience for customers on the go. It’s an effective business extension for high flow traffic roads and will appeal to the spontaneous customer, who isn’t necessarily looking for food but will if presented with a quick and convenient choice.”
Bill and his brother, John, will evaluate the drive-through concept at Lynbrook before rolling it out to other stores. Once the store model has been fine-tuned – they hope before the end of the year – at least another six stores will be converted.
