Elections in Melbourne postponed

The Supervisory Committee for the elections of a new Council for the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne, announced that the elections that had been scheduled for Sunday December 13 have been postponed for Sunday ,the 17th of January 2010.
The deferring of the elections was decided after some members have recourse to the Australian Justice system. These members requested the repetition of the recent general meeting, but a compromise was reached with the postponement of the elections and the partial replacement of some members of the Election Committee.
In the meantime, the Election Committee of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, announced the results of the elections for its Council, which took place last Sunday. About 1,500 expats voted and it is noteworthy that there was only one combination with mr.Ch. Danali as leader, who is expected to remain the President of the community.
