Australians’ interest in Greek wines has paved the way for the return of Wines of Greece in Australia!
The event is set to take place from June 14-25 and is a celebration of Greek wine where leading wine makers and educators from Greece will meet with over 30 wineries from all over Australia and explore over 100 varieties of wine.
The popularity of Greek wines in Australia is booming with a 20 percent increase in demand over the past four years, the Hellenic Statistical Authority reports.
This growing popularity of Greek wines in the country is one of the key factors contributing to the return of this event for the fourth year.
Trade and consumer discussions will explore topics such as Greece’s most exciting terroirs, indigenous varieties, the Greek rosé revolution as well as the natural wines of Greece.
Vangelis Argyris, the President of Wines of Greece stated that the wine makers are looking forward to returning to Australia for a fourth time.
“Australia has one of the most vibrant wine cultures in the world and we’re ecstatic that the Australian palate has embraced and developed a thirst for Greek wines. This year we’ve extended our Australian road trip to reach more Greek wine enthusiasts off the back of the amazing response last year.”
The event is also available to consumers who will have the chance to taste the wine and meet the masterminds behind them and four separate events.
– The Greek wine extravaganza, Oinofilia, at Sydney’s Commune on Saturday, June 23
– Melbourne’s Collingwood Town Hall on Sunday, June 24 (held by the team behind Pinot Palooza and Game of Rhones)
– Georges on Waymouth in Adelaide on Tuesday, June 19 and Wednesday, June 20
