Greek Australians Organize Easter Food Drive for Families in Need

The Greek Welfare Center of Australia is helping Greek Australians in need by coordinating a food, clothing, and toy drive for Greek Australian families struggling at this time of year.

Whether you’re a person of faith or not this season invites giving.

The center adds, “For health and practical reasons, only non-perishable food items that are in date can be accepted. Examples include oil, pasta, rice, coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, canned food, sauces, flour, and spices.”

Toys preferably in new, or as close to new condition are also encouraged.

At the forefront of organising and coordinating appeals at Christmas and Easter, the Greek Welfare Center calls upon the Greek Australian community including businesses, to show filotimo by contributing as much as possible.

“The more we collect, the more we are able to distribute through our volunteer network to disadvantaged Greek Australian families in Metropolitan Melbourne,” the Center urges on its site.
