Antipodean Palette Exhibition Provides Platform for Greek-Australian Artists

Antipodean Palette exhibitEntering its 6th year, the Antipodean Palette exhibition at the Steps Gallery and will exhibit the artwork of eleven Greek-Australians.

The Greek Australian Cultural League of Melbourne has successfully organized this event since 2011, focusing on promoting “the visual arts within the Greek community and giving artists the opportunity to show their work to a wider public,” the organization says on their website.

“It gives the artists in the community a chance to display their work; some are university graduates, but others are first generation who came to Australia from Greece, Cyprus or the Middle East,” Frixos Ioannides, the founder of the Antipodean Palette exhibition told neoskosmos.com.

The show is more than an exhibition of artwork as it is an annual highlight throughout the Greek-Australian community of Melbourne and attracts visitors from all over.

There are other activities featured at the event as in the past that have had book launches, a bi-lingual afternoon filled with poetry and prose, as well as events that feature music and other cultural elements.
