Three Greeks Among South Australia’s Top 100 Important Women

“The Advertiser” newspaper published a list of 100 women who are going to play an important role in the future through their work and their contribution towards society. Among this list, three women of Greek origin made it as well.

Niki Vasilakis

Niki Vasilakis, is a violinist/soloist who is considered as one of most talented musicians of Australia. She has participated in music performances along with the symphony orchestra on Sydney, Prague, Wellington and Guangzhou. In 2008, she was awarded with the title “Young South Australian of the Year,” for her valuable contribution in the art sector. Niki is also an honorary member of Adelaide Festival Centre Foundation, SA., under the title of “Art Guardian.”

Orianthi Panagaris
Orianthi Panagaris, is a 31-year-old artist who was included among the 12 most talented electric guitarists of all time, according to “ELLE” magazine in 2009. Panagaris, who has also been a collaborator of Michael Jackson, lives and works in the United States, and tours around the wold. However, she always returns to Adelaide for special performances.

Eleni Glouftsis
Eleni Glouftsis, became the first female referee in the Australian Football Division in the AFL preseason game between Carlton and Essendon in Princes Park, in Melbourne. She landed this opportunity after a three-year-grant that she won from the Pan-Australian Football League Association.
