5th Greek Student Film Festival Presents Imaginative Films

5th_student_film_festival_2015_3The 5th Greek Student Film Festival, organized under the Melbourne Greek Film Festival came to an end with great success. A large number of students and parents attended the festival on Sunday afternoon, November 1, at the Palace Cinema Como, for the presentation of the students’ film and the award ceremony.

“The Greek Student Film Festival was first organized 6 years ago by the Greek Community in Victoria, the Ministry of Education and the Greek Consulate General Education Office,” said Theo Markos, Education Coordinator of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne. “On behalf of the Community I would like to congratulate the children who participated in the Festival and managed, in a very short time, to create something beautiful and remarkable. Also, a big thanks to all the teachers, without them the efforts and dreams of children would not come true,” he added.

“The festival gave students the opportunity to showcase their creative talent and we must continue to offer them such opportunities because we were once again amazed this year. Congratulations to all involved,” said Modern Greek Teachers’ Association of Victoria president Maria Dikaiou.

The students’ short films lasted five minutes and were created by children learning the Greek language. The films were judged according to a set of criteria that included creativity, use of language and technical quality.
