Former Greek FinMin Varoufakis to Participate in Melbourne Festival

varoufakis-auThe Wheeler Center in Melbourne will present the Interrobang Festival of Questions, a new type of festival that will deal with issues and questions submitted by people around the world.

Greek Former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis is set to appear in the festival, scheduled for the last weekend of November 2015, as a special guest. Varoufakis will discuss the topic determined by the people and submitted through Wheeler Center’s official website and twitter with the hashtag #askinterrobang.

Melbourne’s first crowd-sourced festival will consist of at least 25 live debates, lectures, workshops and shows. No question is too little, obscure, or broad, noted Emily Sexton, head of programming at the Wheeler Centre.

“Obviously Yanis Varoufakis has an extraordinary mind. We think he’ll be able to give interesting insights into the questions about what’s happening in Europe socially, politically and economically, including the refugee crisis,” said Sexton to the Greek Diaspora newspaper Neos Kosmos. “Having been a public political figure for some time he can also give a broad historical perspective that will be complemented by other members of our brains trust.”
