Open Rally in Melbourne to ‘Let Greece Breathe’

greek_fest_homeAn open rally in support of crisis-stricken Greece has been organized in Melbourne for Tuesday, April 21, as part of the “Let Greece Breathe” campaign. The rally will take place at Trades Hall, with Australian politicians and trade union representatives as speakers, while a message from the Greek government will also be read.

The rally will focus on Greece’s struggle for national and economic sovereignty during this difficult time, as well as the country’s efforts to cope with the crisis and make a fair negotiation with its European partners.

The rally will include the following speakers: economist Adam Rorris, head of the Australian-Greek Solidarity Campaign, under the auspices of which the rally was organized, Greek-Australian film director Ana Kokkinos, Federal MP and Australian Greens Deputy Leader Adam Bandt, the Australian Federation of Trade Unions (ACTU) president Ged Kearney, the Australian Trade Union of Metal Workers president Andrew Dettmer, while a message from the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad Michalis Kokkinos will be presented, along with a message from the Greek government representative.

The gathering will take place at 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, April 21, at Trades Hall, on the corner of Lygon and Victoria street, in downtown Melbourne. Admission is free to the public.
