Greek-Australian Entrepreneur Invests in Luxury Car Production

JOSS-car-australiaA Greek-Australian entrepreneur might be able to revive Australia’s automotive industry.

By 2017, most major automotive companies that are currently operating in Australia, such as Holden, Ford and Toyota, are expected to leave Australia and move their business to Asia, where production costs are much lower.

In the meantime, however, 39-year-old Greek-Australian entrepreneur Alex Hatzimihail is planning to invest 35 million dollars for the production of supercar JOSS, designed by Matthew Thomas from Melbourne. Thomas has designed cars for BMW, Ford, Aston Martin and Rolls Royce.

The supercar’s price is expected to reach 700,000 to one million dollars.

Hatzimihail Group focuses on technology products manufacturing companies, some of which are located in the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK. “I have always wanted to own a car company to compete with Maserati and Ferrari,” said Hatzimihail.

The Hatzimihail family originates from the Greek island of Kos. They migrated to Australia in the 1950s and settled in the area of Alice Springs. Hatzimihail Group was established by Alex’s father, George, who arrived in Australia with no money but later managed to create a major company group.
