Seven Greek expatriates are included on this year’s list of 200 richest Australians, which was published in the financial magazine BRW. Mining heiress Gina Rinehart topped the rich chart with a fortune of more than 20 billion dollars.
#1. The very wealthy Kostas Makris — former owner of football team “Panachaiki” — is in 45th place with a fortune of 940 million dollars. He and his son, Ross, are the most powerful owners of real estate, especially in South Australia.
#2. Mine owner Keri Harmanis, comes in second place among the richest Greeks of Australia with a fortune of 610 million dollars.
#3. Ranking third on the list of richest Greek Australians, is property owner Harry Stamoulis, with a fortune of 540 million dollars .
#4. Liquor store chain owner, Theodore Karedis, follows with 500 million dollars.
#5. Businessman Nick Politis is next with a worth 410 million dollars…..
#6. George Koukis follows with a fortune of 325 million dollars. He was born in Chalcis and raised in Australia. He is the owner of a technological company based in Switzerland. According to the reputable Swiss financial magazine, Bilanz, the main shareholder of “Temenos” company, which is listed on the Zurich Stock Exchange, is George Koukis himself. He is also the fifth richest Greek of Switzerland.
#7. Finally, in 7th on the list of wealthiest men is Spiros Alysandratos, the travel agent of Melbourne, with a fortune of 320 million dollars.
