Victoria Speaks About Greek National Soccer Team

greeceAccording to Greek news, diaspora Greeks in Australia were thrilled with the victory of the Greek National Soccer Team. The game, which advanced the Greek team to the final 16 of the World Cup in Brazil, began at six in the morning, local time. Despite the severe cold, many Greek-Australians gathered in the “Greek corner” of Oakleigh to watch the game all together.

After the victory, the Greeks burst into frenzied celebrations that caught the attention of the Australian media, which are already preparing to cover Greece’s next game with Costa Rica, on Monday morning (local time).

The former Minister of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship in Victoria Nikos Kotsiras mentioned the Greek team’s victory in the Parliament of Victoria and congratulated the Greek soccer team for their success. He also suggested to the Australian government to place big screens in the Eaton Mall footpath in Oakleigh, where as many Greek Australians as possible will have the chance to watch the game and create a football stadium atmosphere.
