Former AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou Joins Bastion Group

Greek Australian Andrew Demetriou, former CEO of the Australian Football League, has accepted an important position with the Bastion Group and will serve as a board director, leading strategy and growth.

The company was founded in late 2008 by Fergus Watts, a former Adelaide and St Kilda player.The company headquarters are located in Melbourne with additional offices in Sydney and Auckland.

Bastion Group is one of the most important and innovative Australian Strategic Communications Groups dealing with sponsorships and big sporting events and organizations, such as the AFL Players Association.

Andrew Demetriou stated that he is very proud to be a member of the Bastion Group since “it has a family culture and shares values and a work ethic that encourages left-field thinking to maximize the return on investment by a client.”

He also expressed his excitement about the opportunity he has been given to give a boost to Bastion Group and lead it to further success, stating “Right now they are young, growing and full of energy. When you walk in to any of the offices there is a great feel about the place and the work is of the highest quality.”
