The Kastellorizian Association of Victoria announced during a special event held on May 25, the 21st recipient of the Kastellorizian of the Year award.
The award was offered to the former president of the Kastellorizian Association of Western Australia and expatriate businessman, James Manifis.
Besides his extended business activity, Mr. Manifis served for many years in different positions, not only in the Kastellorizian Association of Western Australia, but also the Greek Community. He now promotes the values and interests of the association as vice president.
He also holds the position of vice chairman of the Kastellorizian Council of Australia which he helped initiate in 2013.
The students Brigette Augustes and Alex McCart received honors for the excellent results at the VCE and apart from the award, they also received an education bursary and a selection of historical books on Kastellorizian heritage.
The Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Christina Simantiraki, and the State Labor Member for Albert Park District, Mr. Martin Foley also attended the award ceremony.
