Greek Minister of Tourism to Visit Australia

olga_kefalogianniThe Greek Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, will be visiting Australia in May to promote Greek tourism. Kefalogianni will also be signing the much-awaited deal between Greece and Australia over the tourist visa. TheĀ agreement will allow young people aged between 18 and 30 years to travel between the two countries to live and work for up to twelve months.Ā 

Kefalogianni is expected to visit Melbourne onĀ May 12 and 13, Canberra on May 14 and Sydney on May 15 and 16. She is scheduled to meet with tourist agencies and Greek organizations and institutions such as the Greek Community of Melbourne and the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HACCI). She will also attend the opening of the Benaki Museum branch in Melbourne on May 13.

Meanwhile, according to official figures, Greece in 2013, welcomedĀ 142,642 tourists from Oceania, 129,112 of whom were Australians. In 2013, tourist arrivals from Australia to Greece increased by 9.6%, while estimations for 2014 are rather optimistic. Australian tourists are considered as the most generous, followed byĀ Canadians, Americans and Russians.
