Australian Government Finances Greek Printing House

printing houseOver 100 new job positions will be created in a Greek printing firm after a subsidy of 2.6 million dollars was granted by the federal government, the government of Victoria and Ford Australia, under a project called Melbourne’s North Innovation Investment Fund (MNIIF).

The printing-house belongs to the Greek family Zapris and is run by Christophoros Zapris. The subsidy will allow the company to equip itself with the latest machinery worth 6.1 million dollars and to employ 110 persons. So far, the company is employing 30 professionals.

“This is a very positive move for the Australian industry and the industry in the northern suburbs of Melbourne,” stated the federal Industry Minister, Ian MacFarlane.

MNIIF is a $24.5 million program that supports innovative job creation projects. MNIIF serves the Melbourne North region. The Local Government Areas of Hume, Whittlesea, Moreland, and Darebin are included in the scheme. The MNIIF and the Geelong Region Innovation and Investment Fund programs are based on a tripartite agreement between the Australian Government, the State Government and Ford Australia.
