Greek Singer Kostas Makedonas Debuts in Sydney

Delphi Bank proudly presents the 2014 Greek Festival of Sydney. For the first time ever, Greek singer Kostas Makedonas will perform in Australia, accompanied by the popular Greek music orchestra Emmetron and the well-known talented singer Katerina Eugenikou. Their performance will take place at the Enmore Theater in Sydney on Saturday February 1.

Kostas Makedonas was born and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece. He began his musical career at the age of 10 when he began guitar lessons for the first time and continued through his school years until he started performing. After graduating, he began economic studies in Thessaloniki where he also took part in the musical scene of the city, performing in various musical settings and venues.

His first album entitled “No Idea” (Den eho idea) was released in 1988 with music written by Greek songwriter Stamatis Kraounakis and lyrics by Lina Nikolakopoulou. This album kick-started his career and since then he has experienced a continuous upward trend in the music scene. He is one of the most sought after musicians in Greece and has collaborated with the most popular names in Greek music such as: Alkistis Protopsaltis, Mikis Theodorakis, Mimis Plessas, Dimitra Galani, Manolis Mitsias, Aliki Vouyiouklaki, George Dalaras, Harris Alexiou, Marinella, Glykeria, Pantelis Thalassinos, and countless others.

During his career, he has accumulated an impressive discography of 12 solo albums and has collaborated in at least 40 other artists’ albums. His Australian debut performance will include his greatest hits as well as the works of many well-known Greek composers.
