4th Greek Student Film Festival

greek student film festivalAustralia’s Greek Student Film Festival in collaboration with the Orthodox Community of New South Wales and the Education Office, which is under the auspices of the Embassy of Greece, organized a contest for the best short film shot by students studying Modern Greek from primary school to university level across Australia.

The competition included a presentation of a short film entitled “Greece is Light” and was open to any form of fiction, animation or documentary, in its sole interpretation and creativity of students and teachers involved. Forty films were received from all over Australia and were judged by an independent committee from Sydney and Melbourne under the supervision of the Education Office of the General Consulate of Greece in Melbourne.

The films were viewed and the winners were announced in each of the four categories.

Primary school students of (5-6 years of age):

First prize went to the students of the Sans Souci PS School from the State of New South Wales, for “Greece is Light.”

Second prize went to the students of the Stonnington Public School from the State of Victoria, for “Greece is Light.”

Third prize went to students of the evening school of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW from Clemton Park in the State of New South Wales, for “Olympic Flame.”

Secondary school students (7-9 years of age):

First prize went to the students of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne’s Albert Park School from the State of Victoria, for “In the beginning there was Light.”

Second prize went to the students of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne Alphington Friday School from the State of Victoria, for “Whether you want to or not Greece shines.”

Third prize went to student of the Balwyn HS School from the State of Victoria, for “My Child, you should learn Greek.”

Secondary school students (10-12 years of age):

First prize went to the students of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne (Doncaster) School from the State of Victoria, for “Books Chatting.”

Second prize went students of the St Spyridon College from the State of New South Wales, for “Hecuba.”

Third prize went to students of the Centre for Hellenic Cultural Studies from the State of Tasmania, for “Greece is Light.”

Higher education:

First prize went to students from the State University RMIT in Victoria, for “Greece is Light.”

Second prize went to students from the State University Monash in Victoria, for “Reflections on a title.”
