Australia Doesn’t Want the U.S. Spying

aystralia“Australia cooperates with the United States in surveillance and interceptions,” says the Australian Professor Des Ball, an expert in espionage.

According to him, the Australian Defence Signals Directorate service exchanges classified intelligence with the U.S. National Security Agency and is spying for the United States, mainly in Asia and the Pacific.

“The interceptions are being conducted on behalf of the Americans through Australian lairs in Asia, said Mr. Bowls adding that Australians have also been spying on foreign embassies “for security reasons.”

He said that the U.S., Britain, Australia, Canada and New Zealand have the agreement “to spy with five eyes on other countries, but not to spy on one another.”

The senator Nick Xenophon asked the Australian government to seek an explanation from Washingtonm and to confirm whether they are spying on citizens of Australia as well as in other European countries.

“Canberra must ensure that the United States does not spy on Australian citizens” stated Senator Xenophon.
