Greek-Aussie Gets 27 Years for Murdering His Adopted Son

rw-xypolitis-wd-20130906094503907576-620x349The 57-year old Greek-Australian John Xypolitos was sentenced to 27 years for the murder of his 17-year-old stepson Gary Adams.

Xypolitos admitted that he killed Gary Adams, but claimed it was in self-defense when he repeatedly hit the unfortunate boy with a hammer. Particularly, Xypolitos told the police that the teenager had become “uppity” toward him and threatened him with a screwdriver.

However, in court it was mentioned that Xypolitos had confessed to an undercover police officer that he killed the 17-year-old boy and then dismembered his body with a chainsaw and dumped the remains throughout Melbourne.

The murder occurred in 2003, but Xypolitos was arrested last year.

According to what was said in court “After killing the boy, Xypolitos went to his house, made his wife some tea and sat down to watch TV as if nothing had happened.”

“For all intents and purposes you are a callous, brutal and a cunning murderer,” Justice Elizabeth Curtain said to   Xypolitos.

Xypolitos must stay in prison for 24 years in order to become eligible for parole at the age of 81.
