Film You Know What? I Love You on Greek Grandmother

you know whatThe film, You Know What? I Love You, made its premiere on July 27 during the Melbourne International Film Festival. The film is directed by the Greek-Australian Natalie Cunningham, who has already received highly encouraging comments.

The film in question first appeared in the 19th International Festival –short films- in Palm Beach in the USA and received very positive reviews. In 2012, it won two prizes, which included the Best Master of Film and Television (Documentary Production) by the Victorian College of the Arts of the University of Melbourne.

This is a tender story, illustrating the director’s tender relationship with her grandmother, Giannoula Panagiotopoulos.

“I feel very happy that the documentary will be projected at the place where my grandmother lived for 58 years. My aim is not to show a convenient and pleasant view of Melbourne’s inner suburbs, but a dynamic image of the citizens of the wider community,” Cunningham said.

The director shares the biggest joy for the film’s course with her grandmother, who has also the leading role. “I am proud of my grandmother. I am sure that everyone will appreciate even a little the role of this amazing woman, who played an important role in my life,” she added.

Cunningham also said that she considers the participation of her film in the International Festival as great honor.

“We showed something of Melbourne and the most important thing is that my grandmother has the leading role. It’s like opening a window of my house to the wide public,” the director said.
