1beaf5012c5363eed422b1dbc38ce16fThe official opening of the fund-raiser organized by the Parent Committee of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria and by the organization Greek Ambassadors, took place at the Arcadian Center, with the participation of a large number of school representatives, teachers, associations and individuals.

The fund-raiser was held in order to collect money in collaboration with the Greek Schools around Australia for the support of the Metropolitan Community Clinic at Helliniko. The Metropolitan Community Clinic at Helliniko was founded in December 2011 on the initiative of the Inter-municipality Solidarity Network and the support of the municipality Elliniko–Argyroupoli. The Metropolitan Community Clinic at Hellinikon provides free medical assistance to the unemployed and poor civilians with no social security or with very little income.

Thodoros Markos, education coordinator and member of the management board, spoke on behalf of the Community underlining MCCH’s activitites. “It very important that this Community Clinic offers its services free for the people who live in Greece, no matter where they come from. The Community continues its charity work today, as it has done many times in the past, when Greece was in need of help,” Markos said.

He also congratulated the movement Greek Ambassadors on behalf of the community, adding that all the Greek Australian community has to support it.

During the meeting it was decided that every school will organize a special event in order to collect money for the fund-raiser.vThe willingness of schools to cooperate and their great response to help the movement were evident.
