Gaitanou at Hobart Baroque

LISOLA-Photo-1The first opera presentation ever by the Royal Opera House in Australia- a production from the Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden will debut at the Royal in Hobart- L’isola disabitata from April 12-20.

Hobart Baroque will open with an acclaimed production by Rodula Gaitanou of a rare work by Joseph Haydn, premiered in 1776 at his great patron, Prince Esterhazy’s palace at Esterhaza in Hungary.

Rodula Gaitanou was born in Athens, trained as a violinist at the Mousikoi Orizontes Conservatory, gained a degree in Musicology at the Paris-Sorbonne University and went on to a Masters in Musical Dramaturgy and Opera Staging at Paris 8 University, Saint-Denis.

For the last three years she has been living and working in London. Gaitanou has already given samples of her great work that have been praised by the foreign press.
